EXPLANATION
Elliptical Construction merupakan gabungan dua kalimat yang berbeda subyek namun terdapat kesamaan informasi dalam predikatnya. Eliptical Contruction digunakan untuk meringkas 2 kalimat dengan subyek berbeda ke dalam satu informasi.
Pada umumnya penggabungan 2 kalimat tersebut, dengan memfungsikan :
1)“So-too” untuk kalimat makna positive (positive elliptical construction).
2) Penggunaan "either-neither" untuk kalimat makna negative (negative elliptical construction).
3) Sedangkan, "but-while" digunakan untuk kalimat berlawanan (contrary elliptical construction)
Penerapan elliptical construction didasarkan pada verb tense yg digunakan dlm masing-masing kalimat. Jika bentuk kalimatnya berstruktur verbal, maka auxiliary pada ellipticalnya menggunakan "did", "does", "do." Jika bentuk kalimatnya berstruktur nominal, maka auxiliary pada ellipticalnya menggunakan tobe (is, am, are, was, were).
